Liv Ulvik - Inn Vade

Liv Ulvik`s project INN VADE is with it`s original instrumentation something new from the Norwegian music scene. With the harp and cello from the world of classical chamber music, the trombone and the percussion from the jazz and rhythmical section, and last, the vocals with a traditional touch. The project started as poetry for the desk drawer, with a pile of texts all in various ways about feeling invaded. The Norwegian lyrics set the mood of the album with its claustrophobic, grotesque but also humorous images.

With her background from the award-winning traditional vocal trio Eplemøya Songlag, Ulvik now takes the Nordic tradition in even new directions. In the song Bumerang a traditional Norwegian dancing tune is used as melodic basis for the text. In Mitt mantra Ulvik combines her own composition with a traditional waltz melody. Two traditional dancing tunes from Estonia are integrated in the songs Dukk under and Du ser og ser. Along with Ulvik`s traditional vocals, the traditional music weaves into an expression that seems both old and new at the same time and can arouse both recognition and surprise.

Liv Ulvik – vocals, Kristoffer Kompen – trombone, Ida Aubert Bang – harp, Kristine Solberg – cello, Terje Engen – percussion.
